By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Cox Communications has announced that it has been ranked highest among SMB data service providers in J.D. Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Major Provider Business Telecommunications Study. Cox (News - Alert) scored over all providers in four of the six factors driving satisfaction: billing, customer service, performance and reliability and sales representatives/account executives.

Cox was ranked highest among small business data providers in similar J.D. Power and Associates studies in 2006 and 2008.

"Cox began partnering with local business customers to solve data communications challenges seventeen years ago and has a strong heritage of delivering industry-leading service," said Phil Meeks, senior vice president, Cox Business (News - Alert). "Highest J.D. Power and Associates rankings are distinctions that demonstrate our commitment to offering the best business products and service available."

The 2010 Major Provider Business Telecommunications Study is based on responses from 5,439 business customers of telecommunications data services at home-based, small/midsize and large enterprise businesses in the United States and includes evaluations of their data service providers. The study was fielded in September and November 2009 and January and March 2010.

"In this year's study, customers indicated a significant decline in service outages and the biggest improvement was among small/midsize businesses," according to J.D. Power and Associates. "Cox's focus on delivering enterprise-level service to smaller business reflects this trend and is indicated in its high satisfaction scores."

Cox Communications is a multi-service broadband communications and entertainment company that boasts over 6.2 million total residential and commercial customers. It is not only the third largest cable television company in the United States, but also the seventh largest voice services company in the country. In another article, TMCnet reported that

Cox Communications has been honored with the 2009 North American Broadband Customer Value Leadership Award by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) for providing the industry’s most economical and secure packages for high-speed Internet customers.
