With More SMBs Opting for VoIP, Speakeasy Extends Free Phone Offer

By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor

As one of the nation's leading broadband and voice (VoIP) service providers, Speakeasy is committed to bringing simplified voice and data solutions to small businesses. A Best Buy company, Speakeasy (News - Alert) launched in March a promotional campaign which involved offering free Polycom SoundPoint IP 321 VoIP-enabled phones to new business customers who purchase unlimited or global Hosted Voice calling plans and have a minimum of five lines. Encouraged by the tremendous success of the campaign, Speakeasy has decided to extend the promotion through the end of June.

Speakeasy's VoIP solutions are designed to improve the customer experience, increase employee productivity and help cut costs. The company is known for its award winning customer support. It has been in VoIP industry since 1994 and joined the Best Buy family of companies in April 2007. Since then the company is working with Best Buy For Business to champion technology for small businesses throughout the U.S.

When it comes to switching to VoIP, the companies are generally aware of its many benefits. But upfront costs of buying VoIP phones are often too high for the small and medium businesses and that generally stop them from switching to VoIP. Speakeasy churned out this innovative approach to eliminate this cost factor and the entire initiative came out to be a huge success.

"While the long-term cost savings of using VoIP were proven, we suspected some companies might have been apprehensive of making the switch because of the upfront costs. Turns out our theory was right. By eliminating that last barrier to entry, we've had a dramatic increase in call volume from potential new customers, clearly demonstrating the desire for small businesses to implement Hosted Voice," Bruce Chatterley (News - Alert), Speakeasy CEO, explained.

According to a recent study released by CompTIA, a trade association for the global IT industry, 25 percent of small- and medium-sized businesses expect to adopt a VoIP solution this year. This promotion has clearly demonstrated its ability to accelerate that trend.

Speakeasy cites the example of its customer, Gorilla Tango, which reportedly gained significantly from the hosted voice services. Gorilla Tango is a small business who reported to have found tremendous value in Hosted Voice. Not only has it saved 70 percent on its phone bill, but it is able to operate the business 24 hours a day in two locations without adding a lot of SMBs anticipating a switch to VoIP.

The Gorilla Tango case study will be available at http://www.speakeasy.net/casestudies/gorilla.php.
