Sybase and Orange Business Services Enter into Partnership
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
Sybase, Inc., a major player in enterprise and mobile software, and Orange Business Services, a global communications solutions integrator, have entered into a partnership to offer mobile device management as a managed service to enterprises who want to control their mobile assets.
This service is available on any carrier in the world, many mobile devices and numerous operating systems.
In a release, officials with Sybase said that Orange Business Services (News - Alert) will leverage the company’s enterprise device management platform to help companies tackle the challenge resulting from the increasing number of mobile workers, devices, applications, and ever-growing heterogeneity of corporate mobile environments.
Orange Business Services will enable enterprises to consolidate their global mobile assets (devices and SIM cards), implement a mobile security policy, deploy all mobile applications and control wireless spending.
This device management service is hosted in the Orange network, with Service Level Objectives, and can be easily accessed by any enterprise that requires cross-operator, cross-device management and is scaleable to meet both large mobile fleet demand and bursting usage.
'Security compliance, centralised mobile device control, and application deployment are major challenges that global enterprises must overcome to benefit from the 21st century corporate mobility world,' said Caroline Comet-Fraigneau, head of mobility business unit, Orange Business Services, in the release.
Fraigneau said the company’s cloud-ready approach to mobile device management not only addresses these issues, but also ensures a positive return on investment by avoiding heavy CAPEX investment, ensuring a low unit cost per user by sharing the company’s platform across multiple customers and helping reduce enterprise mobility costs.
'Security issues, combined with the difficulties of managing the heterogeneity and complexity of a mobile infrastructure, require a proven and easy-to-deploy mobile solution,' said Nigel Doust, VP of EMEA, Sybase iAnywhere (News - Alert).
Doust said that Orange Business Services chose to work with Sybase to offer device management as a service, providing their enterprise customers with an instant solution that removes many of the obstacles previously experienced.
