TMCnet VoIP Week in Review

Welcome to the latest edition of TMCnet’s VoIP Week in Review featuring this week’s top headlines in the VoIP industry.
This week, London-based VoipSwitch, a developer of VoIP platform solutions and a subsidiary of Voiceserve Inc., announced the company received a “2009 Unified Communications (News - Alert) Excellence Award” from TMC’s Unified Communications magazine.
The award, which recognized the company’s platform for ITSPs, honored the offerings’ advancement of technology in unified communications.
“Voiceserve/VoipSwitch has demonstrated a commitment to excellence while addressing real needs in the UC marketplace. We are pleased to grant a 2009 Unified Communications Excellence Award to VoipSwitch platform,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC (News - Alert).
Also this week, SIP software developer, Brekeke Software, announced the company received VoIP Field Verified Program status from Polycom.
The new status means carriers and service providers using Brekeke’s hosted telephony platform can now also take advantage of Polycom’s voice products.
According to Jim Kruger, vice president of marketing for Polycom Voice Communications Solutions, "Polycom is committed to bringing best-in-class, open standards-based products to market so our customers can implement the communications platform of their choice.”
Phone (News - Alert) Power, a provider of next generation telecommunications solutions also made headlines this week after celebrating their VoIP phone solutions ability to now deliver 60 minutes of free international call to 88 countries every month.
The free international calling offer is bundled along with unlimited local and long distance calling plans begin at $14.95 every month.
In a move to further optimize their operations, a Paris, France-based outsourced customer service provider also announced this week that is selected Sangoma Technologies (News - Alert) Corporation’s NetBorder product line.
Specifically, they will leverage the NetBorder Call Analyzer and NetBorder Express Gateway (News - Alert).
According to Rick Matlock, vice president of IT Infrastructure at Teleperformance USA, the company is constantly seeking to make their operations more efficient and scalable.
“The fast and accurate IP-based call classification of NetBorder Call Analyzer ensures that our automatic dialer enables optimal agent productivity while meeting regulatory compliance and offering high-quality interactions with end users. After a thorough technical evaluation process, we determined that Sangoma’s NetBorder was the best fit for our next-generation architecture,” said Matlock.

Finally this week, Interactive Intelligence announced the release of a new Interaction SIP Station - a VoIP network end device that contact center agents plug their headsets into to receive full telephony features and functionality by way of the PC desktop.
According to officials with Interactive Intelligence the device, which works with the Customer Interaction Center VoIP contact center platform, is “an affordable, reliable and simple alternative to IP desk phones.” It’s also an alternative to softphones, which are less reliable and tend to be harder to use.
