By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

911 Enable and ShoreTel have announced that the 911 Enable Emergency Gateway (News - Alert) appliance has completed ShoreTel’s Technology Partner Program certification testing.

An on-site appliance, the 911 Enable (News - Alert) EGW is designed to simplify and automate E911 management for enterprises and small to medium businesses. The appliance helps SMBs meet state and local E911 regulations, said company officials.

Some of the key features include automatic IP phone tracking, on-site security desk notification, and support for teleworkers. Moreover, the EGW also provides E911 call routing capabilities through the 911 Enable Emergency Routing Service.

Company officials said that 911 Enable ERS delivers emergency calls to the appropriate Public Safety Answering Point based on the caller’s geographic location.

911 Enable, a division of Connexon Telecom, is a provider of E911 solutions for IP-PBX (News - Alert) systems. The partnership with ShoreTel will enable the company to help organizations using the ShoreTel UC system to deploy a reliable and cost-effective E911 solution, said Lev Deich, director at 911 Enable.

“Regardless of size or locations, organizations in all market segments can now ensure their entire workforce is protected in times of crisis and their E911 obligations are met,” he added.

The ShoreTel (News - Alert) UC system has been built from the ground up for IP networks, and is based on open standards, enabling organizations to deploy UC solutions that best suit their needs.

“We worked with the 911 Enable team to develop and deliver a solid and comprehensive 911 solution for our customers,” said Kevin Gavin (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at ShoreTel, adding that 911 Enable ensures that ShoreTel’s customers can easily manage their emergency response planning, and in the event of an unforeseen incident are connected to the right emergency response teams quickly.

ShoreTel is a provider of unified communications solutions based on its IP business phone system. The company offers organizations of all sizes integrated, voice, video, data, and mobile communications on an open, distributed IP architecture.

Earlier this month, the company announced the expansion of VoIP and UC solution offerings in Germany and Switzerland.
