Panasonic System Networks Company of America Established
By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Cigars all around: Panasonic (News - Alert) System Networks Company of America has been born as an enterprise vendor for small-to-medium-sized businesses' "workplace needs."
The company was created by integrating the operations of Panasonic Communications Company of North America and Panasonic System Solutions Company.
The new company will deal in business communications systems, including PBX (News - Alert) telephony, security and surveillance systems, imaging, including medical and other video cameras, document scanning and interactive whiteboards, retail systems, including POS terminals and wireless audio headset systems. (Pause for breath)
Panasonic officials say the new entity will also continue to maintain its presence in consumer communications products like the familiar Panasonic cordless phones and network camera systems.
Bill Taylor (News - Alert), president of the new company, says one objective with creating the new entity was to get "greater flexibility in creating tailored one-stop-shopping" products built around "networkable and interoperable products."
"The new range offers high voice quality and productivity-boosting capabilities in a full-featured desk phone replacement," Singh wrote, adding that DECT (News - Alert) 6.0 "ensures no interference with wireless networks, and the convenient cordless design eliminates the need to run dedicated network wiring to each employee workstation. It is suited for both, home and business environments."
The Panasonic TGP500 series phone was announced at BroadSoft Connections 2009: Voice & Vision held in Scottsdale, Arizona the last week in October.
“As the market leader, Panasonic is committed to delivering innovative features and superior performance,” stated Mike Roshandel, director of business development, Panasonic System Networks Company of America. “Panasonic has embraced the BroadSoft VoIP platform and is working with BroadSoft’s service provider customers to enable new solutions for IP communications.”
A couple weeks ago TMC's (News - Alert) Anamika Singh reported that Panasonic System Networks Company of America announced the interoperability of BroadSoft’s (News - Alert) BroadWorks platform with the KX-TGP500 series of SIP DECT cordless telephones.
