In an effort to expand the adoption of cordless advanced technology Internet and quality, or “CAT-iq,” IP communications technology, DSP Group (News - Alert), Inc. announced that its silicon and HD voice technologies featuring ICs and software have been incorporated into 11 CAT-iq certified products from cordless telephone manufacturers.

In general, CAT-iq is a global technology for wireless broadband home connectivity that brings together broadband Internet and telephony. Available in a protected frequency band across the globe, it supports new and exciting products for wireless home communication and infotainment.

DSP Group provides wireless chipset solutions for converged communications at home. It enables consumer electronics, or “CE,” manufacturers to cost-effectively develop new revenue-generating applications with fast time to market.

According to DSP Group officials, the company offers a broad portfolio of wireless chipsets integrating DECT (News - Alert), Wi-Fi, PSTN and VoIP technologies with advanced application processors, thereby enabling converged voice, audio, video and data connectivity across diverse consumer products, from cordless and VoIP phones to home gateways and connected multimedia screens.

Apart from providing supports for CAT-iq technology, the DSP Group also provides CAT-iq 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 firmware, communication protocol stack, call control and reference applications. This facilitates consumer product manufacturers to deliver advanced communication features with fast time to market.

Currently, DSP Group's CAT-iq embedded solutions are deployed in many IP telephones and gateway products, such as IAD, cable, xPON and office PBX (News - Alert), thereby offering superior cordless communication range, multi-line and multi-handset control, natural wideband voice, advanced data services, software up-gradability and more, said officials.

Oz Zimerman, corporate vice president of Marketing of DSP Group, said that the company is committed to leverage its expertise to expand CAT-iq market adoption.

“We are proud to lead the transformation towards a new set of standards and requirements that will ensure a high level of consumer experience, advanced features and full interoperability,” Zimerman.
