Teo Partners with AltiGen to Develop Microsoft-Based Unified Communications Platform
By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor
Teo, formerly known as Tone Commander, and a telecommunications company specializing in telephone and network solutions, has reportedly collaborated with AltiGen Communications Inc., to create a feature rich, easy to install, Microsoft-based Unified Communications (News - Alert) platform.
AltiGen Communications is a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone systems.
According to the company, Teo will integrate its line of telecommunications products with Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange, providing organizations with government-grade unified communications capabilities and 50 percent more features at a more affordable rate. The integrated communications platform is said to consolidate voice, voicemail, e-mail, messaging, audio conferencing, fax, speech recognition and mobile integration into a single integrated system and will be compatible with all Teo IP phones.
The platform is currently in beta testing and is expected to be available in later this year.
"With this solution, we've leveraged several decades of experience providing secure communications solutions for government agencies to design a solution that will help our customers, both in the public and private sectors, significantly increase functionality and ease of use all while reducing cost," said Steve Hill, president of Teo, in a statement. "And unlike other platforms on the market today that are complex, fragmented and expensive to manage, ours is a truly unified solution, both from users' perspectives and in terms of integration and implementation."
With the capability of eliminating the need for additional IT specialists and technicians, the solution's intuitive interface allows administrators to centralize controls to a single screen. Officials from Teo said that the entire solution is accessible and customizable from Microsoft Outlook, and with the enhanced mobility functionality, it enables workers to achieve complete on-premise communications capabilities while working remotely.
Moreover, the solution is said to include a software development kit that allows developers to build custom applications without any additional hardware and eventually reduce the cost of ownership.
"Teo's breadth and depth of experience creating telecommunications solutions for government agencies and enterprises made them an ideal partner for us," said Jeremiah Fleming, president and chief operating officer at AltiGen (News - Alert), in a statement."By combining Teo's capabilities with AltiGen's experience providing Microsoft-based VoIP solutions for businesses, we're able to provide a best-of-breed communications solution that will enable users to become faster and more nimble and productive than ever before."
Located in Mukilteo, Wash., Teo has been offering several made-in-the-USA products including, series of ISDN and VoIP telephones, NT1 ISDN Network Terminations, ISDN Centrex Attendant Consoles and Enhanced 9-1-1 (E911) Emergency Awareness Solutions. As a U.S.-manufactured solution, Teo's UC platform is said to meet guidelines outlined in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
