TWT, an Italian telecommunications company has selected the Nortel VoIP solution for introducing advanced IP Powered Business services and international VoIP transit for businesses, voice service resellers and international wholesale customers.
Nortel’s (News - Alert) solution features unified communications capabilities such as voice and messaging integration that can be activated by TWT when needed. Currently under deployment, TWT’s new Nortel VoIP platform is expected to be in full service within December 2008.
Based in Milan, in Italy’s Lombardy region, TWT services the telecommunications needs of corporate, carrier and reseller markets in the region and across Italy. The company is using a Nortel solution that is based on the Communication Server 2000 (CS 2000) IP multimedia softswitch. The CS 2000 can manage high telephone traffic volumes without compromising quality of service and also aids the Italian telecommunications company to reduce its operating costs as well as improve the overall profitability of its wholesale business.
TWT’s new Nortel VoIP platform also includes advanced services from Nortel’s Global Services portfolio that help optimize the implementation of TWT's VoIP technology while ensuring world-class reliability and best voice quality for TWT customers.
By leveraging their new VoIP solution, TWT will be able to provide all the Class 4 services presently managed by their existing DMS. Additionally, they will be able to extend their service offering with new VoIP and multimedia services based on SIP.
Rossano Bernardi, chief technology officer of TWT, explained that the communications flexibility and innovation ability of the Nortel’s solution enabled them to address current customer client needs as well as introduced them to growing business opportunities with resellers and corporate customers.
“These customers demand the very best communications services today and need to know that we can predict and support their communications needs into the future,” he noted.
Nortel helps TWT create and offer high-quality and complex telecommunications solutions that unify technology know-how and can be delivered in a simple and cost-effective manner.
According to Nortel, their solution will also help TWT to cover underserved areas, and deliver advanced hosted and managed services such as IP Centrex.
