AFCU Picks XO for IP Communications Network
By Jyothi Shanbhag TMCnet Contributing Editor XO Communications has announced that it has signed a new agreement to provide network services to America First Credit Union (AFCU), the 6th largest credit union in terms of total membership and the 12th largest credit union in assets in the United States.
As per the new three-year contract, XO Communications (News - Alert) will deploy a private data networking solution for America First Credit Union to connect more than 80 retail locations across the state of Utah with its two core data centers in the state. AFCU is noted for being one of the largest, most stable and most progressive credit unions in the country and has remained a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative financial institution.
With XO’s support, AFCU will offer expanded bandwidth and secured connectivity to its growing network in Utah. This will enable it to more effectively ensure business continuity and provide the maximum network uptime for its users and members to access financial information.
“Over the last few years, we have experienced significant growth and were in need of a proven provider that could deploy the bandwidth, network reliability, and security we require in delivering premier financial services to our members,” said Randy Hunter, senior IT manager at America First Credit Union. “We’re confident that the solution provided by XO will meet our networking needs and will help us continue to grow our business.”
XO takes the credit for connecting 75 major metropolitan markets across the United States with nearly one million miles of metro fiber in major markets across the country. The company also offers customers a broad range of managed voice, data, and IP services, delivering them to its business, government, carrier, and wholesale customers, which include half of the Fortune 500, more than half of the world’s 25 largest telecom companies, the five largest wireless carriers and five largest cablecos in the U.S., and two of the top five search engine companies.
Reliability, stability, and proven expertise, are clear differentiators businesses look for when considering alternatives for their network solutions providers. With a client roster such as XO’s, AFCU can be confident it has selected a provider with the heritage required to provide top-level services. XO recently announced it’s IP Flex solution has been deployed by more than 15,000 customers.
“Our solution will allow America First Credit Union to cost-effectively connect all of their locations over our high-capacity network backbone and deliver expanded bandwidth, as well as added redundancy and security to the credit union's private network,” said Shawn Adamson, general manager of XO Communications' Salt Lake City office said.
