Mushroom Networks Unveils T1 Replacement Technology
By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributor
Mushroom Networks (News - Alert) has introduced a Broadband Bonding Service, a hosted service that offers better than T1 speeds both in the uplink and downlink directions as well as better savings compared to a traditional T1 service.
This new service, according to officials, is meant for business class customers and can be hosted by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) - providing the market with the T1 replacement technology.
Dr. Cahit Akin (News - Alert), co-founder and chief executive officer at Mushroom Networks noted that traditional T1 services are expensive to deploy, maintain and operate and result in high prices for customers. He also said they are archaic in terms of speed and performance compared with alternatives such as DSL or a cable modem so many service providers are actively looking to phase out their legacy T1 offerings.
"By merging multiple inexpensive broadband connections together, our new service surpasses T1 by providing extremely fast broadband both in the downlink and uplink directions, supporting business critical applications such as reliable IP voice communications, and enabling accelerated VPN access for telecommuters and other off-site customers," he said.
The Broadband Bonding Service comprises customer premise equipment (CPE) unit housing, up to six broadband connections installed at the subscriber's site and a single high-speed Internet connection formed by bonding broadband connections together.
Compatible with any broadband technology or Internet Service Provider, the Broadband Bonding Service allow business customers to mix and match providers of their choosing and scale bandwidth based on immediate needs.
Company officials also noted that the Broadband Bonding Service supports Mushroom Networks' full product line including: Truffle (News - Alert)- targeting the large enterprise, Porcini for small to medium businesses, and PortaBella - a wireless solution that bonds multiple cellular data cards into a single shared connection.
A built-in VoIP quality manager in these products improves voice quality by minimizing latency for both inbound and outbound voice traffic. Users can also activate the internal router and stateful firewall capability of Mushroom's products as needed along with support for standard Internet services such as port-forwarding, port binding, WAN interface binding, static IP, dynamic IP, PPPoE, DHCP, DMZ, UPnP, and Dynamic DNS.
