By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributor
World Phone Internet Services Pvt. Ltd, a category “A” Internet service provider in India, reportedly has announced that the company is going to launch its cable broadband Internet services in Delhi and the nation’s capital region.
World Phone has announced it will provide its customers with the service at a monthly rate of about $2.14, the lowest ever fee for the service in the region.
World Phone has been licensed by India’s Department of Telecommunications as a category “A” ISP. TI Investment Services, a funding firm from the United States, backs World Phone in providing a host of telecommunication services including Internet bandwidth, Internet telephony through Voice over Internet Protocol to consumers and businesses. The company offers VoIP services to more than 30 countries, including call center, broadband Internet and international calling booth solutions.
Aditya Ahluwalia, chairman at World Phone Internet Services Pvt. Ltd., said that with the launch of the service, World Phone will tap the population in Delhi & NCR and hopes to garner at least 5,000 subscribers in the first three months.
Ahluwalia said that a lower monthly commitment marks a bold step by World Phone.
The company has partnered with a number of television cable operators across Delhi & NCR for providing the service, and will provide its customers with a speed of up to 256 kbps with a 200 MB data download limit.
In the initial phase, World Phone is offering this service in select places only, although it plans to expand its broadband services soon in other cities like Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata also. The company provides a range of broadband plans to its users including an unlimited plan, hourly plan and a data limit based plan.
The company is also going to offer pre paid broadband service, providing the users with a convenience of simply buying recharge vouchers from the cable operator and instantly begin surfing.
