VoIP, HDTV Provider SureWest Brings WealthTV to Kansas City

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

WealthTV today said that it’s signing an agreement with SureWest Communications (News - Alert) to bring its luxury lifestyle and entertainment programming to SureWest customers in the Kansas City region.

SureWest is expected to feature WealthTV in digital and high definition formats. The network says it delivers “informative” shows on travel secrets, fast cars, better etiquette and better investing.

With its own definition production studios, WealthTV will complement SureWest’s channel lineup with original programming, according to company officials. Since late 2006, WealthTV has been available to SureWest video customers in Sacramento, California.

In February, SureWest acquired Lenexa, Kansas-based Everest Broadband, and last month announced that it has started operating the Everest Broadband unit under the “SureWest” name.

Also, last month, the company said that it’s adding a total of 18 new HDTV channels on its network in the Kansas City region.

“We’re excited to further enhance the programming lineup in our newly acquired Kansas City region, demonstrating our commitment to offering our customers more choices and the best programming available,” stated Peter Drozdoff, vice president of marketing at SureWest.

He said that WealthTV continues to deliver the type of programming that viewers enjoy watching, especially in lifelike high definition.

Robert Herring, Sr., chief executive officer at WealthTV, said that SureWest has done an “outstanding” job in deploying advanced video services for their customers with a robust high definition lineup.

“We are pleased that SureWest customers in the Kansas City area will soon be able to enjoy WealthTV in digital and brilliantly clear high definition,” he said.

Northern California-based SureWest is an integrated communications provider. The company offers bundled residential and commercial services that include IP-based digital and high-definition television, high-speed Internet, Voice over IP, and local and long distance telephone.
