ClearOne Releases New CHAT Software

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

HD Conference solutions provider ClearOne (News - Alert), has announced the release of a new version of software for its CHAT family of audio conferencing products.

This new upgraded version features full support for all versions of the Microsoft (News - Alert) Vista operating system, and enhancements to the user interface.

Also, the latest software upgrade applies to all models of the CHAT 50 Personal Speaker Phone and CHAT 150 Group Speaker Phone.

Used by both traveling and home based office professionals, the CHAT 50 connects to a PC or laptop via the included USB cable to provide audio for phone calls using Skype (News - Alert) or other VoIP softphone clients.

In addition, the CHAT 50, about the size of a deck of cards, can also connect to certain cell phones and business or home phones.

While a little larger than the CHAT 50, the CHAT 150 contains 3 microphones and comparatively a larger speaker, as the company has designed this product for use in an executive office or small conference room.

Mark Child, director of product marketing at ClearOne, noted in a press statement that Windows users have always been able to plug a CHAT 50 or CHAT 150 into a PC running Vista and the products have worked well.

“This means that users can install and run the CHAT software on Vista machines making it easy to fine-tune the CHAT’s audio settings and create their own database of defaults for different applications,” said child.

He also said that the software interface has been improved with simplified menu selections and a broader range of supported products.

In January this year, ClearOne announced availability of the Converge Pro 880T, a new addition to the Converge Pro platform of professional audio solutions for conferencing applications; and Converge SR 1212, a digital audio processor and matrix mixer.
