(Kuwait Times Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)KUWAIT: The Crowne Plaza held a press conference on Wednesday to announce a Turkish Cuisine Festival in Al-Ahmadi restaurant from March 8-13. People can enjoy their meals while listening to Turkish music. After the press conference, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Turkish ambassador, followed by a diplomatic dinner in Al-Ahmady restaurant. Hani Kafafi, the General Manager of Crowne Plaza addressed the audience.

"The Turkish Cuisine Festival is an attempt to further strengthen the ties between Kuwait and Turkey in general and between Crowne Plaza Kuwait and the Turkish residents in Kuwait. The festival will promote cultural awareness about Turkey in Kuwait as well as expose the people of Kuwait to Turkish cuisine". He said the festival is important because it's a good way to attract people from other countries. "In business it's very important to get all the opportunities, and having such a new festival is a perfect moment to support our customers with something new and unique. Creativity and innovation is very important to be successful." Two chefs were invited all the way from the Turkish province of Gaziantep to attend this carnival.

Sakir Fakili, the Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait noted, "The real reason for choosing the Gaziantep is that I was born and lived there for a some time. It's one of my favourite places in Turkey. Its an old city where the Romans and the Ottomans lived. Gaziantep is a growing tourist city, especially after the discovery an old buried city." He added that the city is a commercial centre.

He added, "Having such a festival in Kuwait was a very clever idea because in this way we get introduced to Kuwaitis and Kuwaitis can get to know all about our beautiful country and it could be a good chance in increase our tourism industry." Dr Assem Guzelby, the Mayor of Gaziantep told the press, "We want to have cultural relations between Kuwait and Turkey." When talking about Turkish food he said that Turkish food has many influences: central Asia, Chinese, Mediterranean, Ottoman and Europe. "This is a great and strange mixture.
